Steventon CC secure funding for new net facilities

Cricketers in Steventon are set to get a new two-lane cricket net facility thanks to a £54,808 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

The money will be used to build a fully enclosed two lane net facility at Steventon Green in the centre of Steventon.

Mike Day, Chair of Steventon cricket club believes the facility will make a huge difference to the cricketers, especially the junior cricketers living in the area.

He says: “This project will provide the facilities required to support the recent growth of junior, girls and women’s cricket in Steventon. It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our net facility being ready to use before the new season commences in May.

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Penny Horne, spokesperson for FCC Communities Foundation, says: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Abingdon - Steventon Green Cricket Nets project and pleased our funding will provide such a fantastic facility for the local community. FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities and we’re really looking forward to seeing this one take shape soon.”

Steventon Cricket club would also like to thank the Steventon Parish Council for their support in helping us realise this project.
